A library assistant and a home health aide have filed a federal lawsuit over Tennessee's rules for people who advise others about the new health insurance exchange.
The women and their union, Service Employees International Union Local 205, ask for a temporary restraining order prohibiting the rules from being enforced.
The lawsuit names Governor Bill Haslam, Commerce and Insurance Commissioner Julie Mix McPeak and Attorney General Robert Cooper as defendants. A state judge declined last week to block the rules and scheduled a hearing for next week.
Nashville Public Library circulation assistant Exie Harrington and Metro Social Services home care provider Trumeko Foxx say the rules violate right to free speech.
Haslam has said the rules are "not intended to be a stumbling block."
