1st Dist. Congressional Candidate to Attend 'Machine Gun Rally' in Paducah

Republican 1st District Congressional candidate Jason Batts says rural Americans feel as if they are under attack. Batts says he will join gun enthusiasts Saturday in garnering support for 2nd Amendment rights at a “machine gun shoot.”

The Hickman County attorney is a lifelong NRA member and active Captain in the U.S. Army. He says his role as a soldier and prosecutor has shown him how critical it is that he defend American heritage.

“In both roles as a soldier and prosecutor I see first hand how critical our second amendment rights are to not only to provide self defense for ourselves but also to defend our nation and to  engage in family traditions like hunting,”  says Batts.

The conservative candidate says Paducah Shooter’s Supply reached out to his campaign to give voice to constituents concerned their values aren’t being seriously considered.

“We don’t have a gun problem in this country we have a mental health issue,” says Batts.

Batts says he does not own a machine gun, but supports civilian rights to own semi-automatic weapons. The Paducah rally will provide machine guns, for a fee, to adults who attend who don’t bring their own. Meanwhile, the NRA announced Friday that it will be supporting Batts opponent, James Comer in the 1st District Race.

The Paducah Shooter’s Supply event will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3919 Old Cairo Road, Paducah.
