Paris Board May Publish Owner Names of Dilapidated Properties

Paris, TN – The Paris Housing Board of Adjustments and Appeals is considering publishing names and addresses of property owners who ignore notices about their dilapidated properties. The board met Tuesday, where member Terry Fuller suggested the measure. The Paris Post Intelligencer reports the board is looking into the matter because many owners repeatedly fail to respond to mailed notices.

Jail Employee Commended by FBI

Clarksville, TN – A Montgomery County Jail employee was formally recognized yesterday for alerting the FBI to an inmate listed on the federal Terrorist Watchlist. 20-year-old booking clerk Brittany Hicks received a Letter of Commendation from the FBI, presented to her by Sheriff Norman Lewis. Hicks may have stumbled across the connection while entering inmate information into a national database. The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports all information about the inmate has been classified.

Donation Creates High School EMT Course

Fulton, KY – Former Lieutenant Governor Robbie Rudolph is behind a donation allowing Fulton High School to offer an emergency medical training program to its students. Rudolph donated $7,000 to create the program, saying it will help revitalize the region and raise students' self-esteem and quality of life. According to the Paducah Sun, students can even get college credit for the course. Only ten students were able to take advantage of the course, as costs totaled around $700 per student.

Armory Shooter Released

Fredonia, KY – The man responsible for a 2003 National Guard Armory shooting in Hopkinsville was released from prison today. The Kentucky New Era Jameyel (Jah-MY-uhl) Hodge was convicted of the murder of Tameica Kendrick and found guilty of first-degree assault of Corey Brodie. Hodge was initially sentenced to life in prison. He was retried in May of 2008 and convicted of lesser charges of reckless homicide and assault under emotional distress. His sentence was reduced to ten years. Hodge maintains he shot Brodie in self-defense and did not shoot Kendrick.
