Traffic Advisory: I-24 Wreck

Paducah, KY – A single car accident has closed the westbound lanes of I-24 near Exit 7 in McCracken County. A car has overturned on the overpass at the US 45/Lone Oak Road interchange. Motorists traveling Interstate 24 west should take Exit 11 and follow the I-24 downtown loop to avoid the crash site. Authorities estimate the closure will last around 2 hours.

McCracken Co. Escapee Sought

Paducah, KY – Kentucky State Police are looking for a man who walked away from a Paducah halfway house Sunday. 24-year-old Jesse R. Branham was last seen around 6:00 pm wearing a white t-shirt and green and yellow shorts. He is possibly with his wife, 21-year-old Tina Branham. She drives a white 1989 Chevrolet S-10 with Kentucky license plate 871-JXR. Mr. Branham is described as 5 foot, 11 inches, 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. If you have contact with these individuals, please contact the Kentucky State Police.

Madisonville airport uses stimulus money

Hopkins Co., KY – Madisonville Municipal Airport is using stimulus money to fund a one point three million dollar renovation project. According to the website isurf-hopkins-C-O, completed projects include re-pavements and a lengthened and widened taxi-way that runs parallel to the entire runway. The runway was renovated in 2005. The Madisonville Airport receives from private, corporate and medical planes.

Armed Robbery in Clinton

Clinton, KY – Two men in connection with an armed robbery in Clinton are on the run. Kentucky State Police are searching for two African American males who entered Greg's IGA in Clinton with a handgun and demanded money. No one was armed in the altercation, which occurred yesterday morning. However, police say both men should be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone has information on the robbery, please contact the Kentucky State Police.

Obama Telecast Upsetting Parents

Paducah, KY – President Barack Obama will broadcast live in a nationwide telecast today, but some area parents have balked at the idea. McCracken County School public relations director Cheryl Lawson says it's up to each school, each teacher, and each student to decide whether to participate. Other school officials have released similar statements. President Obama will be broadcast live at 11:00 AM on C-SPAN cable television network and in a webcast available on the White House's web page.

Lower Heating Prices

Paducah, KY – Prices for natural and propane gas will be lower this winter for western Kentucky residents. The Paducah Sun reports that the price for natural gas fell 71 percent since last year on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Since the summer was so mild, fewer natural gas turbines were needed for air conditioners. Since less gas was burned, it was easier for suppliers to store inventories for the winter months. Prices could slip to as low as $1.25 per gallon for heating gas.
