MSU Student Faces Felony Trafficking

Murray, KY – A Murray State University student and Murray resident has been arrested for trafficking marijuana. Calloway County deputies, along with Murray Police and the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force agents arrested 19-year-old Jeffrey Wilson yesterday. Officers seized a large quantity of marijuana, but did not specify the exact amount. Wilson faces a felony trafficking charge. He is also charged with possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia, 2nd offense. Wilson is being held on bond at the Calloway County Jail.

Advocates Ask Judge to Block Limits on TN Foster Care

Nashville, TN – An advocacy group wants the courts to block a new Tennessee law that would penalize counties that put a high percentage of children in foster care. The motion was filed yesterday in Nashville's U.S. District Court by Children's Rights.

Fort Campbell Soldier Charged in Fatal Car Crash

Erlanger, KY – A Fort Campbell soldier who was behind the wheel of a car in northern Kentucky when it crashed and killed his friend is facing criminal charges. Erlanger police charged 26-year-old Riley Ealy with driving under the influence, second-degree manslaughter and wanton endangerment. Police say Ealy was on leave from Iraq when he crashed into a tree early September 3rd. His passenger, 25-year-old James Fry, died in the crash.

KSP to Offer Insights into their Work

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky State Police Commissioner Rodney Brewer is encouraging people to apply for a position at the Citizens Police Academy, an 11-week course at each post district across the state. Classes meet one night each week.

Brewer says it's an opportunity for participants to get insight into how police operate. Topics include the agency's history, training, patrol procedures, undercover operations, canine operations and crime laboratories.

Signature of former KACo official on receipt

Lexington, KY – A published report says the distinct signature of a former Kentucky Association of Counties official appears on receipts from a strip club and an escort service. According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, a sales slip from the Thorobred Lounge I, a Louisville strip club, includes the signature, driver's license number, birth date and home address of Spencer County Judge-Executive David Jenkins. KACo leaders obtained the receipts from vendors and provided them to the Herald-Leader.
