Janice Mason Art Museum Awarded

Frankfort, KY – The Janice Mason Art Museum has been selected to receive the Kentucky Governor's community organization for the arts award. The Cadiz museum will receive the honor at the 2009 Awards in the Arts presentation in Frankfort in October. This is one of nine art award categories given by the Kentucky Arts Council.

PADD executive director retiring

Hopkinsville, Ky. – The Pennyrile Area Development District will have a new executive director. Lyon County resident and current PADD assistant director Chris Sutton takes over the position October 1. He replaces Dan Bozarth, who's retiring after 10 years as executive director and 33 years of service with the organization. Bozarth announced his retirement earlier this month. Sutton will be the development district's fourth executive director in its 40-year history. The PADD serves nine western Kentucky counties.

USPS Using Fancy Farm Pigs Cancellation Stamp

Fancy Farm, KY – The U.S. Postal Service is giving a nod to the Fancy Farm Picnic. A special stamp cancellation featuring dancing pigs will be used for the first time to commemorate the "world's largest picnic" at St. Jerome Parish in Fancy Farm.

Officer in Charge Bobby Stokes created the design. Stokes says he wanted to include pigs on the cancellation to carry over the barbecue theme. Mail order requests for the special cancellations will be available for 30 days starting on August 1st.
