Traffic ADVISORY: US-60 TN River Bridge

McCracken County, KY – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will restrict traffic to one lane on the US 60 Tennessee River Bridge between McCracken and Livingston counties tomorrow and Friday. The lane restriction will allow inspectors to complete a detailed inspection of the bridge approach spans. Inspectors plan to be on the bridge deck from approximately 8:00 a.m. to approximately 4:00 p.m. both days.

Ky. Transportation Secretary Resigns

Beshear to Present Checks to Western Kentucky

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear will visit western Kentucky Wednesday to present funds to Fulton and Hickman counties for improvement projects. The City of Fulton will receive $1 million for housing revitalization geared toward low-income residents. The Fulton County Sheriff's department gets nearly $5,000 for new firearms. The City of Clinton will receive $730,000 for sewer rehabilitation. $65,000 will go to the Hickman County fiscal court and $105,000 to the City of Columbus, both for water system improvements.

Tennessee has a full year of negative sales tax growth

Nashville, TN – Tennessee officials say July marked a full year of negative state sales tax growth. Tennessee Finance Commissioner Dave Goetz says last month's revenues were $61.8 million less than what the state budgeted. Sales taxes are about 60 percent of the state's money. Economists say Tennessee will likely not see any growth in sales tax revenue until 2011.
