AARP Holds Rally at the Capitol

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky and other senior groups held a rally today in Frankfort to protest additional cuts to services for the elderly. Preventing more budget cuts is A-A-R-P's top priority in the 2010 General Assembly. Nelda Barnett, AARP Kentucky state president said it's important to protect state services that allow thousands of seniors and citizens with disabilities to be cared for in their homes.

Homelessness Problem

Frankfort, KY – This is Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in the Commonwealth and those close to the issue say people without a proper place to live aren't those you might imagine. Gerry Roll with the Kentucky Interagency Council on Homelessness says many have jobs, but not jobs that provide them the kind of paychecks they need. Roll says Kentucky also suffers from a problem of trying to identify what defines proper housing. She says people in need are stretching some houses to the limit.

Dana Plant Producing New Ford Parts

Paris, TN – The Dana plant in Paris, Tennessee will begin producing cylinder head covers for 2010 Ford Fusion and Escapes using a recycled nylon material. The covers are 20 percent lighter than standard aluminum parts, which in turn make the cars more fuel efficient. Tri-County Star reports the Paris plant developed and tested the new parts, which are reportedly the first products of their kind manufactured from post-consumer recycled nylon.

Fort Campbell Soldier Killed in Clarksville Shooting

Clarksville, TN – A Fort Campbell soldier was killed in a Clarksville shooting early Sunday morning. 25-year-old Bryan Hastye died after being shot in the back. Clarksville Police say the bullet went through the trunk of the car he was riding in. The shooting occurred shortly after a dispute at Club 808. Four Nashville men have been apprehended and charged with homicide after officers found a gun they believe was used in the shooting.
