FLW College Fishing Tourney @ KY Lake

Hardin, KY – The National Guard FLW College Fishing Tour is heading to Kentucky Lake to compete Saturday through Monday. Teams from 18 universities will take off from Kenlake Marina in Hardin at 7:00 each morning. The college teams are competing for a $25,000 award for their school and a new fishing boat wrapped in their school's colors. Weigh-ins will be held daily at 4:00pm outside Murray State's Roy Stewart Stadium. The events are free and open to the public.

Available Stimulus for Farmer's Energy Efficiency

Frankfort, KY – $850,000 in federal stimulus money is now available to Kentucky farmers for projects to improve energy efficiency. The program will provide reimbursement for a quarter of the cost for federally qualified energy saving items, up to $10,000. Energy audits, energy efficient farm building parts, energy upgrades, and efficiency training are all permissible. Farmers can apply to the program through the Governor's Office of Agricultural Policy. Only expenditures made after Oct. 15 will be eligible for reimbursement.

Regional Census Bureau Opens

Hopkinsville, KY – The U-S Census Bureau has opened a regional office in Hopkinsville. The office will oversee data collection in 22 counties for the 2010 Census. Questionnaires will be mailed or delivered to residents in mid-March. The U-S government uses information from the decennial [deh-SIN-ee-all] census to draw congressional districts and distribute federal funds.

Fulton Commissioner's Home Attacked

Fulton, KY – Fulton City Police are investigating shots fired at a city commissioner's home. Michael Farmer reported damage to his home late Monday night. Apparently several shots were fired into the residence. Farmer and a close relative were inside at the time. Officers continue to investigate and they ask anyone with information to call the Fulton City Police Department.
