Dunlap Attorneys Want Photos Excluded

Smithland, KY – Attorneys for a man charged in a Trigg County triple homicide don't want jurors to see photographs of injuries to three children their client is accused of killing. Kevin Wayne Dunlap's lawyers filed a motion on Friday asking that the photographs be kept out of the trial because they would be inflammatory and prejudicial. Dunlap allegedly raped and stabbed Kristy Frensley and killed her three children, before setting fire to their Trigg County home in the fall of 2008.

Jury Selection to Start in Soldier's 2nd Trial

Elizabethtown, KY – Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday in Elizabethtown in the second trial of a former Fort Campbell military police officer charged with a double murder. The first trial in September ended early in a mistrial. U.S. Army Sgt. Brent Burke is charged with murder in the 2007 shooting deaths of his estranged wife, 31-year-old Tracy Burke, and her former mother-in-law, 53-year-old Karen D. Comer of Rineyville in Hardin County. Burke has pleaded not guilty. The two boys and an infant sister were found hiding in a closet.

Council Close-Lipped on Deal

Hopkinsville, KY – Hopkinsville officials are refusing to release information on a compromise reached between the city and AT&T. The Kentucky New Era reports Hopkinsville's Cable Television Oversight Authority rejected the proposal at a public meeting yesterday. The disagreement stems from the city's assertion that AT&T should be required to apply for a city franchise in order to offer cable television service through its telephone lines. AT&T disagrees. A special council meeting to decide the issue is Monday.

State Prison to Become All-Female

Fredonia, KY – A state prison in western Kentucky will become an all-female facility following an announcement today by Governor Steve Beshear. Western Kentucky Correctional Complex in Fredonia will receive about four hundred women from Otter Creek Prison in eastern Kentucky. Male inmates at WKCC will go to other state and private facilities around Kentucky. Beshear Spokesperson Kerri Richardson says the inmates are moving following allegations of sexual abuse at Otter Creek.
