Budget cuts threaten closure of local alternative school

Huntington, TN – In 1994 after fighting his way through nights of alcohol induced haze, Brian Stafford met his destiny, in Carroll county juvenile court. Soon Stafford found himself among other troubled teenagers at Carroll Academy. Now a college graduate, Stafford is back at the school, as a teacher. With budget cuts of over 640-thousand dollars threatening its livelihood, Stafford is concerned about long term effects, should the school close. Rebecca Feldhaus has the story.

LBL Reschedules Bison Auction

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between the Lakes has rescheduled its bison auction tomorrow for February 6th. It will be held at two separate locations. Registration begins at 8:00 am at the South Bison Range, with the first auction starting at 9:00 at the Elk & Bison Prairie Corral, followed by a second auction at the SBR Corral.

McCracken Consolidated High School Update

Paducah, KY – Estimated costs to build McCracken County's consolidated high school will be over $65 million. This summer will see construction begin off US-60 near the Kentucky Oaks Mall. The Paducah Sun reports the school board has bought out the last remaining property needed to build on the site. It has also opted to pay the US Army Corps of Engineers $174,000 to rebuild wetlands lost by building on land currently in the flood plain.

Clarksville Police Officer Resigns

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police officer arrested last week on a D-U-I charge in Henry County resigned yesterday. 27-year-old Richard Allen Leese was arrested last Wednesday on violation of implied consent. He allegedly wrecked a truck into a yard. The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports his resignation comes after he was put on administrative leave by Police Chief Al Ansley.
