Murray, KY – NPR's Morning Edition has started a multi-part series on Afghanistan. The series is generated from co-host Renee Montagne's recent travels there. Those reports examine the police force, courts and national army to find out whether those institutions can be dependable building blocks for Afghanistan as it builds its democracy. WKMS News Director Bryan Bartlett spoke to Montagne about her third trip to the region since the Allied invasion in 2001.

Cable Dispute

Murray, KY – Sinclair Broadcasting owns 58 television stations across the country, including KBSI, the local FOX affiliate. Mediacom Cable provides service to 15-hundred small and medium sized cities across the U.S. But come December 1, Sinclair stations are scheduled to disappear from Mediacom's lineup. As Jim Michael reports, that means you might not be able to watch some of your favorite programs.

Shawn Perry

Murray, KY – Shawn Perry graduated Trigg County High School and Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota--then completed his graduate work at Illinois State University in Normal. He moved to Taiwan to teach after doing so with Murray State's English as a Second Language program. In Taiwan, Shawn met his wife to-be, then spent some time teaching in Australia, returning to Taiwan, to marry and start a family.

Murray, KY – Buddy Morrow, current conductor of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, is recognized as one of the all-time great trombone players. He first came to prominence as a featured performer with such leading orchestras as Paul Whiteman, Artie Shaw and Jimmy Dorsey.
