Lourdes Layoffs

Paducah, KY – Lourdes Hospital in Paducah has announced 39 layoffs. Officials announced the job cuts in response to the economic downturn. The hospital says the majority of layoffs were not in the clinical personnel area, and says patient services will not be affected. Paducah's other major hospital, Western Baptist, has not announced any job cuts at this time.

Bunning Still Running

Louisville, KY – U.S. Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky says he will not abandon his bid for a third term in 2010, despite lackluster fundraising. Bunning raised just over 262 thousand dollars during the first three months of this year. In a speech to the Rotary Club of Louisville yesterday, Bunning said he is a viable candidate, and will not be swayed by reports that Republican leaders want him out of the race.
