MSU acquires land for extended campus

Murray, KY – Murray State University recently closed the deal on a Paducah land purchase that has been optioned for a future extended campus. Officials purchased the Barkley Woods property at the beginning of the month. The land is situated on I-24 across from the West Kentucky and Community Technical College. The purchase has been in the works since last year.

KY 80 Work to Begin mid-May

Murray, KY – Work to complete the four-laning of KY 80 between Murray and Mayfield is expected to resume in mid-May. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says contractors have already mobilized equipment to the remaining section between Brinn Road and KY 1836 in Coldwater. He says contractors are readying the area so work can begin when the weather permits.

Nashville, TN – Experts say Tennesseans need disaster plans because they live in the state with the most tornado-related deaths during the past decade. National Weather Service meteorologist Bobby Boyd says a pre-designated storm shelter, weather radio and an emergency medical kit are necessary.
