Murray, KY – Fewer than nine thousand Jackson Purchase Energy members remain without service today. JPEC estimates most primary lines will be energized by the middle to end of the week with repairs to lines serving smaller neighborhoods and communities by the end of next weekend. However, service restoration to members with damaged lines could take an additional two weeks.
Murray, KY – President Barack Obama's signing of a major federal disaster declaration for Kentucky means more disaster assistance for the state, but that still doesn't include individuals. Federal Emergency Management Public Information Officer Don Daniels says the declaration is right now designated as public assistance only.
Richmond, KY – Federal Emergency Management officials have advised the Governor to recall prepared meals distributed to storm shelters. Beshear representative Jill Midkiff says the disaster relief meals contained tubes of peanut butter than have been recalled.
"They've been distributed to all the counties that have requested food or water assistance. We've been in counties all across the state distributing food or water to people who are in shelters or without electricity or water supplies to their home."
