Officials Celebrate New Responder Training Center

The Kentucky Fire Commission and the Kentucky National Guard are celebrating the opening of the new National Responder Preparedness Center.

An open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony is set to take place today at the facility in Greenville. It is located at the Kentucky National Guard's Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center.

KY National Guard Meets Recruiting Goals

More than 7,300 soldiers are now a part of the Kentucky Army National Guard. That number exceeds the original goal set by the National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C. this year by a hundred.

This is the ninth year in a row the Kentucky National Guard has met or exceeded recruiting expectations, and Major Fred Bates, Commander for 2nd of the 75th Recruiting & Retention Battalion with the Kentucky Guard, says that speaks highly of Kentuckians' support for the military.

Ky. National Guard Deploys to Horn of Africa

Over 500 Kentucky National Guard members are on their way to the Horn of Africa. Soldiers from all over the state, including Paducah, Cadiz, Hopkinsville, Owensboro and Madisonville set out for a nine month deployment as part of the 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery.
