The 18 th Murray State University-Jamey Aebersold Jazz Festival will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026 in Lovett Auditorium and the Performing Arts Hall in the Doyle Fine Arts Center. Twelve high school jazz bands, three groups from middle schools, The MSU Blue Jazz Combo, Jazz Band and Jazz Orchestra, and the Jamey Aebersold Quartet will be performing in clinics and concerts open to the public. There will be an open improvisation clinic with NEA Jazz Master Jamey Aebersold intermingled with his concert in the Performing Arts Hall at 12:30 until 1:55pm. All concerts and clinics are free, and the public is cordially invited.

Get ready to get a little wild in the library! Preschool-age kiddos are invited to play with all kinds of toys and make new friends during Play and Grow every Friday at Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library, 1101 Bethel St.
Play and Grow begins at 10 a.m. and we will start wrapping things up at about 11 a.m.

Family Book Club will meet 5-7 p.m. March 27 to discuss “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and then watch the movie together! Families will enjoy themed activities and crafts during the book discussion.
Registration for this program is required. When you register, please register once for your whole family. One Book Club Kit will be provided per household. Your registration includes four free children’s books, and entry to four free movie showings.

This autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning composer of Rent, is the story of a composer and the sacrifices that he made to achieve his big break in theatre. Containing fourteen songs, ten characters, three actors and a band, Tick, Tick... Boom! takes you on the playwright/composer's journey that led to a Broadway blockbuster.

His girlfriend wants to get married and move out of the city, his best friend is making big bucks on Madison Avenue and, yet, Jon is still waiting on tables and trying to write the great American musical. Set in 1990, this compelling story of personal discovery is presented as a rock musical filled with instantly appealing melodies and a unique blend of musical theatre styles.

Outback presents Dusty Slay: The Neighborhood Guy Tour

Long hair, tobacco, over-sized glasses and a trucker hat. Dusty Slay is the self-effacing bourbon-voiced Southern comedian-next-door with a knack for observational, blue-collar humor and the nerve to say what everyone else is thinking. He grew up the son of a single mom in an Alabama trailer park and evokes laughs about everything from Cracker Barrel to his aversion to soap. With almost 20 years of eliciting guffaws, Dusty is just getting started, bringing his brand of relatable working-class comedy to audiences from coast to coast.

Looking to learn a Granny Craft in 2026? How about trying your hand at embroidery for the first time or to just refresh something you learned long ago? Come stitch with us to learn several different stitches while making something useful. We will provide all the materials needed for embroidering your very own needle book. No previous stitching experience needed.

The Calloway County Public Library is pleased to partner with the Murray State University Pre-Health Professionals organization to host a Calloway Community Health Day.

This free event will take place on March 28th from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Calloway County Public Library.

Pre-Health Professionals is a student organization led by a faculty advisor that seeks to educate

and encourage students on their journeys to medical school, dental school, and beyond. Our

passion for all things health and helping others has inspired us to give back to the community

we have grown to love during our time at Murray State.

The goal of this event is to educate anyone in the community about all kinds of health - primary

care, dental care, mental health, financial health, insurance, cancer, health screenings,

substance abuse, disabilities, nutrition, food assistance, and more! We know there is much

more to health than annual check-ups. We want to create a place for our community to learn

what resources are available to support their health in all ways.

This event is completely free to attend. In addition to educational materials, attendees will have

the opportunity to connect directly with local organizations and learn how to access available

services.

Calling all tweens for this creative and imaginative class by instructor Ann Gosser! If you or your 8-13 year old wants to spend a Saturday afternoon learning how to make clay paintings, then this is the class you need.
