Mahr Park Arboretum’s favorite fall traditions will return! Throughout October, our annual Hay Bale Trail transforms the Arboretum into a whimsical autumn wonderland filled with 80+ creatively decorated hay bale displays, each with its own unique theme and personality.

We take fall decorating seriously, so grab a warm drink, gather your family, and enjoy a scenic drive or stroll through a season bursting with pumpkins, hay bales, colorful leaves, and unforgettable photo opportunities. Whether you’re celebrating your favorite season or simply looking for a little autumn magic, the Hay Bale Trail is a fall tradition you won’t want to miss!

Hopkinsville Community College Foundation’s 36th Annual Mike Foster Golf Scramble is set for Friday, October 2 with an 8:30 am shotgun start at Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.
Teams of four are $600 and players receive a sleeve of branded golf balls, a golf gift from HCC, plus breakfast, lunch, unlimited snacks, soft drinks, water, and two drink tickets. Skirts/throws, mulligans, and/or skins game are available for an additional $40 each per team.

There are many sponsorship opportunities available. New this year, our top Lunch Sponsor and Leaderboard Sponsor both include a team.

The scramble offers opportunity to compete for cash and prizes, including $1,500 in team cash prizes, hole-in-one prizes of $30,000, $10,000 and $10,000, and gift prizes for longest putt, longest drive and closest to the pin. Golfers can also participate in a putting contest, 50/50 split pot, and skins game.

The event is named in honor of Mike Foster, an HCC alumnus who was a member of the college’s first graduating class. Foster is a longtime supporter of HCC, a former HCC Foundation board member and a former co-chair of the golf scramble.

McCracken County Library is now offering the services of a Community Support Advocate;

What A Community Support Advocate does:

• Provide resource navigation: Help connect you with community services such as food assistance, housing programs, healthcare, or transportation resources.
• Assist with forms and applications: Help fill out applications for benefits, job programs, or other social services.
• Connect to mental health supports: Offer information on local counseling, crisis lines, and mental health programs

Benefits: 

• Easy access to free, confidential help in a welcoming setting
• Personalized guidance based on your specific needs
• Help navigating housing, healthcare, and benefit systems
• Support with forms, applications, and documentation
• Empowerment to build confidence and self-advocacy skills
• Ongoing follow-up to ensure continued progress

Children aged five and under, accompanied by an adult, are invited to join us on the First Friday of each month at 10:00 AM for a FREE one-hour Laugh and Learn Playdate featuring playful activities designed to prepare them for kindergarten. Adults and children will hear stories, sing songs, make crafts, play games, and enjoy a healthy snack during every playdate.

Presented FREE of Charge. No registration is required.

The Calloway County Public Library will celebrate the grand opening of its new StoryWalk® on Friday, October 2, at 11:00 a.m. the back garden of the Calloway County Public Library.

The StoryWalk® is a permanent installation featuring pages from a children’s book displayed along a walking path, encouraging families to read together while enjoying the outdoors. The project aims to encourage physical activity, promote outdoor engagement, and support a healthy lifestyle mindset.

Funding for the Calloway County Public Library StoryWalk® was provided by Beyond the Bricks donation funds honoring beloved former CCPL director, Margaret Trevation.

The Downtown Farmers Market is the largest farmers market in the region, providing a location for farmers, crafter and artisan bakers to promote their products directly to the consumers at a reasonable price, save family farms and stimulate the local economy. During peak season (June-July) more than 60 vendors are set up down 5th & Maple Streets at this premiere Kentucky Proud certified market.

If you are in town on Saturday mornings (May-October), be sure to visit the court square to shop, socialize or walk through.
