12-Year-Old Drug Trafficker @ Reidland Middle School

Paducah, KY – A McCracken County 12-year-old middle school student has been charged with drug trafficking. Police responded to Reidland Middle School yesterday where the male student reportedly took several muscle relaxer pills and had two left in his possession. The student allegedly attempted to give the pills to other students. Police charged the student with first-degree trafficking in a legend drug. He had apparently taken the pills from an adult in his home.

First wave of H1 N1 vaccines

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky should begin receiving its first doses of H1N1, or swine flu, vaccines next week. State Epidemiologist Kraig Humbaugh says the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta is shipping Kentucky more than 24-thousand doses of the vaccine, which initially will be in nasal spray form.

"We allocated that 24,300 to our 56 local health departments. So, we gave them allocations based on per capita, and no county got less than 100 doses. So, that was a hundred dose minimum."

Live bugs and fecal matter found in Kentucky prison food

Murray, KY – Kentucky State Representative Brent Yonts of Greenville has pre-filed a bill aimed at canceling an annual contract with a food services company preparing meals for Kentucky inmates. Yonts aims to put an end to the 12-million contract with Philadelphia based Aramark Correctional Services. Yonts says the food is unacceptable.

State property auction makes a dent in Kentucky's deficit

Frankfort, KY – A couple of auctions of surplus state property are helping make a dent in Kentucky's ongoing deficit problem. Combined, the auctions raised more than $1.5 million for the commonwealth. Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeigh dropped by Tuesday's auction.
