TN Hospitals OK Fee to Mitigate Budget Cuts

Nashville, TN – Tennessee hospital officials have approved a fee assessment they hope will raise about $200 million and help mitigate severe cuts to the state's expanded Medicaid program. The board of the Tennessee Hospital Association unanimously agreed Monday for an "enhanced coverage fee" to be placed on hospitals in order to draw down federal funds. THA president Craig Becker says the fee will be between 1 and 2 percent and will not reflect on patients' bills.

Dunlap Trial Postponed Due to Weather

Smithland, KY – Jury selection for the Kevin Wayne Dunlap murder trial has been put on hold. Inclement weather has caused officials at the Livingston County Circuit Court to push jury selection to tomorrow. Attorneys and Dunlap met today with Circuit Judge C. A. Woodall for a pretrial conference. Dunlap faces three counts of murder for the 2008 slaying of three Trigg County children. He also allegedly attempted to murder and raped the children's mother.

Montgomery County OKs Airport Funds

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Airport is one step closer to building a new terminal and improving its runway after County Commissioners approved funding yesterday for matching grant money. Clarksville City Council members approved the city's half of the matching funds last week. The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports the next step now is to get approval for a $4 million U-S Commerce grant that will pay the bulk of the almost $5 million new terminal.
