Work Begins Today on Paducah's Pavilion

Paducah, KY – Construction officially begins today on the portable air-dome pavilion in downtown Paducah as workers begin installing door frames at the site. More workers from a St. Louis-based company are set to arrive next week to install and raise the pavilion's canvas with a giant air blower. Parks Director Mark Thompson tells the Paducah Sun the pavilion should be up by the end of next week. After which, work will begin installing lighting, heating and air-conditioning, among other equipment.

Murray State Stuns Vanderbilt in NCAA Opener

San Jose, CA – "He gets it to Miles. Miles takes it to Danero Thomas. Jumper for the win. Goal! It's good, it's good! The Racers win on the jumper by Danero Thomas!"

That's the sound of Forward Danero Thomas hitting a buzzer-beating 15 foot shot that got Murray State past #4 seed Vanderbilt Thursday in an NCAA Tournament opener. It's MSU's first NCAA tournament victory in 24 years.

Murder Convictions Overturned

Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky Supreme Court has reversed three murder convictions, including one in McCracken County. A jury convicted Franklin Rennel Hannah of Paducah in 2006 of murder and sentenced him to life in prison without parole. However, the Supreme Court ruled yesterday that the court in McCracken County did not follow procedure when questioning and directing the jury. The two other cases were also overturned because of legal errors.
