Zay Jackson Could Face a Year in Jail

Murray State Men’s Basketball player Zay Jackson may have serve up to a year in jail after a judge rejected a previous pretrial diversion deal. The Paducah Sun reports Judge Craig Clymer offered Jackson one year in jail on each of Jackson’s two first-degree wanton endangerment charges.

Jackson Suspended for 2012-13 Basketball Season

Murray State University basketball player Zaveral “Zay” Jackson isn’t playing in this year’s basketball season. Director of Athletics Allen Ward says he will still attend team activities such as practice and conditioning. Ward will assess Jackson’s behavior at the end of the season to decide if he'll come back to the court next year. Jackson pled guilty earlier this month to attacking two people with his car in the Murray Walmart parking lot in September. His sentencing is scheduled for November 13.

Foust Recuses Himself from Jackson Case

Calloway Circuit Judge Dennis Foust has recused himself from the vehicular assault case against Murray State University basketball player Zaveral “Zay” Jackson. The Paducah Sun reports Foust wants to remove any question of bias from his participation in the case. Foust was to sentence Jackson yesterday, but has instead postponed the hearing until November 13th to allow for a special judge to hear the case. Jackson is charged with assaulting two people with his car in the Murray Wal-Mart parking lot in September.

MSU's Jackson Enters Guilty Plea

Murray State University basketball player Zaveral “Zay” Jackson pled guilty Friday to two wanton endangerment charges. Jackson was originally charged with assault for hitting two people with his car after an altercation in the Murray Walmart parking lot. Commonwealth Attorney Mark Blankenship says Jackson must serve 30 days in jail, attend anger management classes and pay restitution for the victim’s medical bills. Blankenship adds Jackson must also issue an apology, and speak to youth groups about his mistake.
