Carson Myre Youth Series on WKMS All Classical This Summer

Join us this summer on the WKMS All Classical Channel for The Carson Myre Charitable Foundation's Youth and Ensemble Music Performance Series, featuring highlights from youth concerts recorded over the past school year, all across our region. Hear choral, jazz, brass and strings from elementary, middle, high school and university students with new episodes Fridays at 6 pm and rebroadcasts Sundays at 1 pm and Mondays at Noon on our All Classical Channel.

Carson Myre Youth Performances Featured on WKMS All-Classical This Week

WKMS presents two hour-long specials showcasing highlights from holiday concerts from regional schools this week as part of the Carson Myre Charitable Foundation's Youth and Ensemble Music Performance Series. These specials feature highlights from recent performances by Murray High School, Calloway County High School, Paducah Tilghman High School and Clark Elementary and will be broadcast on our All-Classical Channel.

11 Year Old Entrepreneur Starts Apparel Business in Madisonville

Anyah Logan is 11 years old. She loves to ride her bike, play with friends and sew for fun. She's also the owner of a tie-dye apparel business in Madisonville and an interactive marketplace online. She wowed the city's 1 Million Cups of Coffee entrepreneur group with a presentation over the summer. On Sounds Good, Kate Lochte meets Anyah Logan and her mom Yvonne.

Kids Participate in Triathlon at Noble Park

Rehab Associates in Paducah is organizing their 11th annual Mercy Pediatrics Kids Triathlon July 12, where kids between the ages of 7 and 14 compete in swimming, bicycling and running at Noble Park in Paducah in an effort to encourage youth fitness. On Sounds Good, Kate speaks with Amy Peal of Rehab Associates about the event.

Marshall Co. 9th Graders Invent Firefighting Device, Compete in National Contest

A team of three 9th graders at Marshall County High School in Benton is developing a device to more effectively combat fires, and their work has won them a week's trip to DC to compete in a national competition, the U.S. Army-sponsored eCYBERMISSION. On Sounds Good, Kate Lochte asks Marshall Co. High School science teacher Lisa Devillez to explain how the students got involved and she asks the students to describe the device and explain what it does.

Murray Middle Schoolers Head to Odyssey of the Mind World Competition

Odyssey of the Mind Team at WKMS

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program. Murray Middle Schoolers are with us to talk about their project called "Seeing Is Believing" that is taking them to world competition.

WKMS and the middle school kids of Calloway County Public Library bring to you an original story of terror and suspense, of a dreadful monster that turns one slumber party into a nightmarish evening of fear and chaos, that twists the imagination toward the realm of the unknown, and a night none are sure to forget until their dying day. One would think that a night with a clown would be one filled with jolly and laughter, but not on this... "NIGHT OF THE FRANKENCLOWN!"

Youth Report: A Conversation With British Animator David Firth

British animator David Firth has gained a large following and acclaim over the years on YouTube and the animation website Newgrounds for his darkly humorous and surreal work. WKMS Youth Reporter Kayla Eicholtz admires the artwork in his videos and was curious to find out more about his creative process, to learn that while some artwork may be strange and possibly even scary, the originality of the idea can be a determining factor in how interesting a piece of art is. She spoke with Firth over the phone, while he was on a trip through Europe seeking inspiration, in Switzerland at this particular moment.
