Metropolis Honeywell union members demonstrated in front of Honeywell corporate headquarters in Washington, D.C. and attempted to meet with several lobbying firms Thursday. United Steelworkers Local 7-669, joined by D.C.  AFL-CIO members delivered letters to Akin Gump, OB C Group, McBee Strategic, and Duberstein Group, who they claim Honeywell has hired along with their own in-house lobby team.

UPDATE: Honeywell has issued a statement on the situation.

“The company and the union continued bargaining on Tuesday, but little progress was made.

A work stoppage has begun at the Metropolis Honeywell plant after management and union representatives failed to reach an agreement. Negotiations at the Metropolis Honeywell plant concluded Thursday night with Honeywell making a final offer, but local 7-669 representatives were disappointed with the proposal, saying it did not address concerns with job security, healthcare, and safety among others. The current contract expired at midnight Friday.
