Murray, KY – Listener supported public radio service 91.3 FM, WKMS celebrates music from the movies this Sunday with two locally produced programs, The Eisenhower Hour and Sounds of the Silver Screen. WKMS also welcomes a new, nationally- distributed program, Snap Judgment, to the station's lineup on Mondays this summer.

Murray, KY – Music from the Front Porch host John McMillen emcees the Pickin' Party starting Saturday at LBL's Homeplace -- with old-time music, workshops, and children's activities. WKMS and the Murray Art Guild are offering a kid's crafts activity. It's 10 to 7 Saturday and 11 to 6 Sunday. See you there!

Murray, KY – WKMS features special editions of Music from the Front Porch and Juke Joint Shuffle Saturday, May 1. Former WKMS News Director Gary Scott, now performing as half of Garcia and Scott, joins host Mark Welch on the Porch from 10 to 1, including a salute to the Derby. Then host John Griffin's Juke Joint Shuffle, 2 to 4 p.m., is all about "horse music."

Murray, KY – WKMS, 91.3 FM, Murray, announced today that it has reached almost two-thirds of its spring fundraiser goal with gifts from listeners, grants from local businesses, and an unexpected one-time $14,000 grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. According to station records, listeners have contributed $63,000 to the drive with about $7,000 in matching grants from business underwriters. The overall fundraiser goal is $130,000.

Murray, KY – Murray State University's listener supported public radio service WKMS-FM has changed the frequency and the programming on its Paducah translator, which is now carrying all classical music. The Paducah translator is now on 92.5 FM (formerly 92.1 FM) and is broadcasting the 24 hour classical channel also heard on 91.3 WKMS HD-2 and wkms.org including broadcasts of the Paducah Symphony Orchestra, concerts from Murray State University and listener favorites like From the Top and Sunday Baroque.

Memories of the Movement: A Black History Month Special

Murray, KY – Murray State University's Lovett Live Series features B la Fleck in concert with musicians from Mali and Tanzania on Friday, February 12, at 8 p.m. in Lovett Auditorium. Tickets are available through ticketmaster.com or the RSEC box office.

In advance of the concert, MSU's Cinema International screens the documentary about Fleck's Africa Tour,"Throw Down Your Heart," February 4, 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m. in MSU's Curris Center Theatre.

Murray, KY – The Big Apple Caf in Murray celebrates the anniversary of last year's Ice Storm with a fundraising event for WKMS, Murray State's listener-supported public radio service and NPR member station, on Friday, January 29.

Murray, KY – Next Wednesday, January 27, WKMS-FM, Murray State's listener-supported public radio service and NPR member station broadcasts President Obama's State of the Union Address starting at 8 p.m., followed by an NPR-hosted national call-in program.
