USEC Workers Prepare for More Layoffs

About 700 workers at Paducah's United States Enrichment Corporation Plant have been laid off since the plant stopped enriching uranium nearly a year ago. More layoffs are slated for late June or early July.

WKCTC Receives Accreditation Nod

A national accrediting agency says area high school students taking college classes through West Kentucky Community and Technical College are getting the same caliber of education they’d get on the college campus.

The classic Tchaikovsky ballet "Swan Lake" is performed at Paducah's West Kentucky Community and Technical College's Clemens Fine Arts Center tomorrow night (April 24) at 7:30 p.m. Fifty dancers of the Moscow Festival Ballet perform the great work. Bands convene at Carson Park this Saturday (April 21) for an Earth Day Concert benefiting recycling in Paducah.  The event seeks to bring the community together to help plant sunflowers, which will bloom in July/August. Paducah School of Art and Design is one step closer to the construction phase of the Kitchens’ building in Lowertown.

Gov. Steve Beshear’s line item veto on the state’s budget assures West Kentucky Community and Technical College can use bonding to fund the project.

  Western Kentucky Community and Technical College has cleared its interim accreditation review today with a clean report of no referrals or follow-ups from the accrediting body.  

Once again, the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program has placed Paducah's West Kentucky Community and Technical College among the nation's best community colleges. The top 150 will compete for a $1 million grand prize awarded in early 2015. Kate speaks with Dr. Renae Akin, WKCTC Interim Vice President of Enrollment Management and Associate VP of Learning Initiatives about the honor.

The Paducah School of Art & Design have postponed their art sale until next weekend due to inclement weather. Their annual Student and Faculty sale showcases work done in the program, with a small portion of the sale benefiting the school.

PSAD Begins Final Phase of Expansion

The Paducah School of Art and Design is launching a two million dollar capital campaign for the third and final phase of the campus expansion in Lower Town. 

West Kentucky Community College’s Clemens Fine Arts Center Director Gail Robinson Butler joins Kate Lochte on Sounds Good. This Friday (September 6), the Center’s Arts in Focus Series opens with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players “I’ve got a Little Twist.” The show combines Gilbert and Sullivan music with some of Broadway’s favorite tunes.
