Kentuckians seeking health coverage at the start of 2016 must enroll today to avoid a fine. One of the Commonwealth’s previous affordable providers, Kentucky Health Cooperative, opted out of participating in the state’s healthcare exchange called Kynect, leaving at least 51-thousand people in need of a new insurer.

Paducah Power System

Paducah Power System and West Kentucky Allied Services are now making progress in their effort to aid residents with high power bills.

PPS recently donated $22,000 to WKAS to initiate their “Round-Up” program.

The Paducah Power System and West Kentucky Allied Services have teamed up to help people struggling to pay their energy bills this winter. 

Western Kentucky's energy assistance program for low-income families, or LIHEAP, has almost exhausted its yearly funding allowance. West Kentucky Allied Services administers the region's program. LIHEAP grant director Tony Dowty says they’re working with much less money than previous years.

Helping Seniors Return to the Workforce

Through West Kentucky Allied Services, Inc., Jackie Eubanks coordinates the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). It's for income eligible, unemployed seniors 55 years old and older to develop new skills and gain confidence for return to the workforce. There are immediate openings in Calloway County. LIHEAP Numbers Decline With Warm Weather

The energy assistance program for low-income families, or LIHEAP (LYE-heep) is seeing a drop in Purchase area applicants by almost 25 percent this winter due to unusually warm weather. West Kentucky Allied Services administers the program in Mayfield.
