"Fun with Languages" partners with Murray State's Waterfield Library to offer Saturday morning language clubs for children in preschool to 8th grade. Participants may choose to learn French, Spanish, German, Japanese or Chinese. On Sounds Good, Tracy Ross speaks with Valerie Hendley about she has expanded this language learning program across the region.

WKMS continues a new series of reports called Racer Scholar Profiles, highlighting Murray State Faculty research, scholarly and creative activities across colleges and schools. On Sounds Good, Kate Lochte speaks with Ashley Ireland, Director of User & Instruction Services in Waterfield Libraries. The newly established President's Commission on Retention was just one impetus for the research she's conducted.

Comics and graphic novels are more popular than ever thanks largely to successes in the film and television industry, with blockbusters like The Avengers and The Dark Knight. Murray State University Dean of Libraries Dr. Adam Murray and Owner/Operator of G's Comics in Murray Garrick Crump talk with Tracy Ross on Sounds Good about the university's 7-year-old effort to increase reading by bringing graphic novels into Waterfield Library and they pick some favorites, too.


The Murray State University Board of Regents has set its March 2014 meeting to coincide with the final presidential candidates' visits to campus. 

Board Chair Constantine Curris told regents at Friday's quarterly meeting they should plan to be on campus from March 11-15 to meet with Witt/Kieffer consultants and the presidential finalists. The board decided to keep the presidential search confidential until the finalists are chosen. Then they will release the names to the community.
