  Holocaust survivor and children’s book author and illustrator Anita Lobel is speaking at the University of Tennessee at Martin and at a festival downtown this month. Lobel is UT Martin’s 2017 Paul Meek Literary Legacy Speaker. Her work has appeared on the The New York Times Best Illustrated List and she is a Caldecott Honor Medal recipient.

Update:  Martin Police report 21-year-old Tommy D. Fuller of Martin allegedly fired a weapon at several individuals at apartments on Hannings Lane early Tuesday afternoon.

  UT Martin has announced the building of a new engineering facility that will give students and local industry leaders the chance to work together. 

The new facility is big enough to accommodate large projects like a small airplane, something that engineering seniors will actually be building for their capstone projects. 

But the aim of the new facility isn’t just to give students the space to finish engineering projects, but to give the area the opportunity for industry growth.

The University of Tennessee has named four finalists in its search for the next chancellor of its Martin campus, including a former Murray State administrator.

The University of Tennessee at Martin generated more than $481 million for the northwest Tennessee regional economy last year.  

That’s according to a study by Idaho-based Economic Modeling Specialists International examining the impact the university, student, visitor and alumni spending had on the surrounding communities.
