Community Initiatives at the Murray-Calloway County United Way

Kate Lochte speaks with Aaron Dail, Executive Director of the Murray-Calloway County United Way, on Sounds Good. They talk about the transformation of the United Way involving community conversations and community change, and efforts being made on a local level. Three of their current focus areas are educational attainment, income stability for families, and healthy living/healthy lifestyles. Toyota Supports Early Childhood Education with New Academies in Western Kentucky

Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky will fund six new bornlearning Academies in western Kentucky schools and renew support for two others.

Calloway County's East Elementary and Paducah’s Farley Elementary first received their share of $1 million in grant funds in 2012.

United Way Invites Non-Profits to 'GetConnected'

United Way organizations across the nation are inviting community non-profit agencies and organizations to use a new service from Galaxy Digital called GetConnected. It's an easy aggregator for information about what the groups do and what they need.  It also allows volunteers to identify themselves.  Murray Calloway Count's GetConnected site is up and running at volunteermurray.org.  Jennifer Revell, coordinator for Service Outreach of Murray State's Regional Outreach office in Heritage Hall, came by Sounds Good to explain how to get involved with GetConnected. She welcomes questions at 270-809-5099.
