The U.S. spends more than $7 billion a year preparing classroom teachers, but teachers are not coming out of the nation's colleges of education ready, according to a study released Tuesday by U.S.News & World Report and the National Council on Teacher Quality.

The study says most schools of education are in disarray.

State Legislators Working to Standardize Teacher Evaluations

An effort to standardize teacher evaluation across all public schools in Kentucky is being undertaken at the state capital. House Education Committee Chair Carl Rollins says there are 174 different school districts and 174 different teacher evaluation strategies.
