Widow of Fort Campbell Soldier Sues Fox and National Geographic

The widow of a Fort Campbell soldier killed in a blast in Afghanistan is suing the National Geographic Society and Fox Cable Networks for airing images of her family in a documentary about a combat hospital. Donnice Roberts filed the lawsuit this month in federal court in Texas.

Fort Campbell Soldier Sentenced to Life

A Fort Campbell soldier has been sentenced to life without parole in the deaths of his estranged wife and former mother-in-law. Brent Burke was charged in the 2007 slayings of Tracy Burke and Karen Comer. He had four mistrials in civilian court in Hardin County leading charges to be dismissed.

Kentucky Soldier Stopped in Georgia Chase Dies

Fort Campbell officials say a soldier involved in a chase by Georgia State Police after his wife was found dead has also died of a gunshot wound.  The wound was apparently self-inflicted during the pursuit.  Authorities say 22-year-old Specialist Rico Rawls Jr. died at about 2 Monday afternoon.  Military police responding to an alleged domestic dispute in housing at the post found Jessica Rawls dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound late last week.

Fort Campbell Soldier Arrested

A Fort Campbell soldier has been arrested in Georgia after a high-speed chase in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife. Army officials say they were responding to a report of a domestic dispute in on-base housing Friday when they discovered the body of the soldier’s wife. The suspect was apprehended after a chase involving Georgia State Police.  Fort Campbell officials say the suspect shot himself and was in critical condition Saturday evening. The names of the suspect and the victim are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Panetta Visits Fort Campbell

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says the military will not be intimidated by the attacks on U.S. soldiers in the wake of the Quran burnings. He made the comments today during a visit to Fort Campbell, where hundreds of soldiers will deploy this year as a part of a new Afghanistan advisory mission.
