Fort Campbell to Break Ground on Solar Array Project This Month

Fort Campbell is closer to breaking ground on an alternative energy project that will build the largest solar array in the state. 

Last week, project coordinators received the green light to break ground in two weeks’ time which will see installation of 5,814 solar modules on 25 acres generating over 2,466 megawatt-hours of electricity annually.

Kentucky Regulators OK State’s First Utility-Scale Solar Array

The Kentucky Public Service Commission has approved a 10 megawatt solar array,making it the first utility-scale solar energy system to be built in the commonwealth. It’ll be built near the Brown Power Plant in Mercer County, southwest of Lexington.

Kentucky's Largest Solar Array Will Be Built on an Old Landfill at Fort Campbell

A partnership between the local utility and state and federal government will build Kentucky’s largest solar array at Fort Campbell. The solar array will cover about 20 acres at the army base, and will produce five megawatts of power.

Kenya Stump, Kentucky’s assistant director of the Division of Renewable Energy, said five megawatts is enough energy to power about 500 homes.

Tennessee Solar Tax Breaks May Violate State Constitution
