Lattus Trial Set For April 2013

Fulton County Circuit Judge Tim Langford has set an April 22 trial date for the man accused of killing Hickman mayor Charlie Murphy. Tommy Lattus of Hickman admitted to killing Murphy in January. Judge Langford says Lattus will have a chance at a plea agreement February 14.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into a Saturday incident where Clarksville police shot and killed man outside his home. Police spokesman Jim Knoll says officers responded Saturday night to a man threatening to kill himself, his wife and anyone who tried to enter his home.

Graves County Sheriff

A Hickman man is in Graves County Jail after shooting at a Sheriff’s deputy Saturday afternoon. Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says 35 year old Terry Patterson was wanted for a non-violent warrant when he shot at the deputy, then led him on a 90 mile per hour chase through Kaler, Kentucky. Redmon says Patterson then pulled into a driveway and barricaded himself in his car for an hour. He says Patterson eventually disarmed himself and was arrested.

Hopkinsville police have a suspect in a weekend shooting in custody. The Kentucky New Era reports a witness told officers he saw Desmond Deaunte Daniel wound a man and a woman at an outdoor gathering early Sunday morning. Police charged the 25-year-old Hopkinsville man with two counts of first-degree assault. Police confiscated a pistol from Daniel and also charged him with possession of a defaced firearm.

A federal appeals court has set an October 10th hearing date to take up the case of the man convicted in the 1997 Heath High School shooting in Paducah.

Murray City Police have confirmed they are investigating the shooting death of 22 year old Lindsey Darnall of Cadiz. Darnall was pronounced dead at Murray Calloway County Hospital. Murray Police Sgt. Scott Svebakken says Darnall was found behind 1300 Payne Street in Murray.  Svebakken says police are still investigating the death, but they are not looking actively looking for a shooter. Updates will be provided when received.

Paducah police are investigating the shooting death of a Memphis man at the Elmwood Housing Complex. 

Lexington Police have released documents chronicling a murder investigation that ended in a guilty plea from the son of former Governor Louie B. Nunn.  The 191 pages includes a 1997 letter from the former governor to his son Steve Nunn saying quote "within my mind and memory, you do not exist.”  Nunn pleaded guilty in June to the September 2009, shooting death of 29-year-old Amanda Ross. He had been engaged to Ross. Nunn is serving life in prison without parole. The documents include interviews with family and friends describing the couple's volatile relationship.

One man is critically injured and another is at large after a homeowner shot at them during an early morning home invasion in Marshall County. The Sherriff’s Office reports the two men entered Jack Thompson’s home in Brewers at around 4 am. Thompson heard them enter and fired a pistol and shotgun wounding 22 year old Mitchell Saddoris. The other suspect fled the scene. Saddoris was airlifted to Nashville’s Vanderbilt Medical Center. Sheriff’s Deputies are still searching for the other suspect.
