Wild Weather Tied To Unusual Jet Stream Activity

There has been a lot of extreme weather in the Northern Hemisphere this year, including the recent torrential rains in Colorado, flooding in Europe, bitter cold in Florida and a heat wave in Alaska. And scientists say all of it is related to some odd behavior by the powerful air currents called the polar jet stream.

High Rainfall Keeps TVA Electricity Prices Down

The Tennessee Valley Authority is pumping out a record amount of electricity from it's hydroelectric dams along the Tennessee River and its tributaries.  The free power source along with the wettest year in nearly two decades is saving TVA 10 % on its July fuel bills.

Temporary Closures at LBL Including Turkey Bay OHV Area

From Press Release: Land Between The Lakes (LBL) received excessive rainfall throughout the day Saturday leading to extremely saturated soil conditions that caused the temporary closure of Turkey Bay Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area, as of April 29th, until further notice. Turkey Bay management will re-evaluate trail conditions as the weather improves.

Feast or Famine for Rainfall in Kentucky
