Bees have been on decline in the western hemisphere for the last 10 or 15 years, says beekeeper hobbyist Jim Gould. This is due to reduction in habitat, invasive pests and an increase in pesticide use. On Sounds Good, Kate Lochte speaks with Gould about how beekeepers can bring populations back from the brink and how people interested in beekeeping can get started, ahead of the McCracken County Master Gardener's Toolbox program next Tuesday.

Purchase Area Master Gardener Carol Ullerich visits with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good to talk about PAMGA’s 15th Anniversary, being celebrated with Twilight in the Garden on July 25th. The event, from 5 - 7 pm, will be held at the University of Kentucky Demonstration and Trial Garden at 3600 Coleman Road in Paducah. The garden is typically used as an outdoor classroom, featuring a vegetable garden, small orchard, rain garden, and herb garden. The event will guide visitors through the garden and demonstrate activities such as vermicomposting, propagation, fall gardening, and gardening in small spaces. There will also be activities planned for children, including storytelling and a scavenger hunt. See more about Twilight in the Garden, here.
