Meet Pennyroyal Arts Council's New Executive Director

Margaret Prim succeeds Carol Barta as Executive Director of the Pennyroyal Arts Council in Hopkinsville.  There’s a reception for Barta on January 17, and the Council hosts the Nelson Illusions Smoke and Mystery Tour at the Alhambra on January 25, 2013. She spoke with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good.

Pennyroyal Arts Council Names New Director

The Pennyroyal Arts Council has chosen Margaret Prim to succeed the group’s outgoing director Carol Barta. The Kentucky New Era reports Barta is set to leave the council at the end of the year.

Hopkinsville Historian Recounts Black Patch Tobacco Wars

The black patch tobacco wars of the early 20th century pitted farmer against farmer as a group of men sworn to secrecy used destructive tactics to coerce collective action. Hopkinsville’s Pennyroyal Area Museum commemorates the war with several activities starting Friday (September 21). Official Historian for Hopkinsville and Christian County William T. Turner recounts the story of the Tobacco War  in conversation with Kate Lochte.

Barta Retires as Arts Council Director

The Pennyroyal Arts Council in Hopkinsville, KY.

The Pennyroyal Arts Council Executive Director will retire at the end of December. Carol Barta leaves the organization after eight years. Barta’s tenure included overseeing the renovation of Hopkinsville’s Alhambra Theatre, which was completed in 2008. Pennyroyal Arts Council Board President Ann Nichols says a search committee is in the process of looking for a new director.
