The One Book, One Campus, One Community Read project at West Kentucky Community and Technical College has inspired a community-wide art contest centered around the book Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline, an historical novel staged between 1850-1930 and the effort to bring orphan children by train from northern cities to America's heartland. On Sounds Good, Kate Lochte speaks with Paducah School of Art and Design Dean Paul Aho about how to enter the contest.

West Kentucky Community and Technical College President Dr. Barbara Veazey says plans to renovate the Kitchens Building to accommodate the expansion of the Paducah School of Art and Design has been years in the making. On Sounds Good, she gives some historical context to the project and hopes for securing artistic and economic growth in Paducah.

On Friday, WKCTC received a $400,000 donation from Paducah's Carson-Myre Charitable Foundation to finish Phase 3 of the Paducah School of Art and Design campus project. Paul Aho, Dean of PSAD, speaks with Kate Lochte about the renovations to the Kitchens Building and the multitude of programs that will be housed in the new building upon completion, including a recent "surprise" addition.

Work by award-winning Russian photojournalists Oksana Yushko and Arthur Bondar are featured in a program titled "From Sochi to Paducah" at the Paducah School of Art and Design. The school's dean Paul Aho joins Kate on Sounds Good to preview this collaboration with the Paducah Arts Alliance.

The Paducah School of Art & Design have postponed their art sale until next weekend due to inclement weather. Their annual Student and Faculty sale showcases work done in the program, with a small portion of the sale benefiting the school.

Paducah School of Art's Annual Faculty Exhibition

Paducah School of Art and Design Director Paul Aho visits Sounds Good today. Its 2013 Annual Faculty Exhibition opens with a reception Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Clemens Gallery on campus at West Kentucky Community and Technical College. Paul gives a preview of the exhibition and reception and how it factors into a new term on campus. He gives Kate an "imaginative" tour of what to expect at the event, and how his own work will be on display. See more information, on WKCTC's website.

The Yeiser Art Center in Paducah shows its 20th Annual Teen Spirit Exhibition through February 15. Students from area public high schools, Christian schools and home schools entered a massive array of art for judging by Paul Aho who visits Sounds Good via a telephone interview with Kate Lochte.
