Paducah Police/Fire Chiefs Consider Possibility of Multi-Department Building

  Paducah's Police and Fire departments may consolidate facilities to operate under one roof.  

Police Chief Brandon Barnhill says he and Fire Chief Steve Kyle have been researching the idea of a joint-department facility for about five years and are now looking into how it could work for Paducah.  Barnhill says both departments are currently working out of cramped, out-dated quarters.

Paducah Police Dept. Phone Drive for Domestic Violence Victims Runs Through Jan. 5

If you received a new cell phone for the holidays, you can turn your old one over to the Paducah Police Department to help victims of domestic violence.

The PPD has partnered with Verizon Wireless’ HopeLine program. HopeLine refurbishes devices to provide support to domestic violence victims in the form of free phones and cash grants.

Officer Recovering After Paducah Collision

Paducah police officer Austin Guill is expected to have a long recovery after a collision in Lowertown this week.

The Paducah Police Department says Guill underwent a successful surgery after being airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind., on Wednesday.

Driver Arraigned In Noble Park Hit-And-Run Case

A man charged with an August 18th hit-and-run bike wreck in Noble Park has pleaded not guilty to felony charges.  18-year-old William T. Hayes Jr. was arraigned in McCracken Circuit Court Thursday on charges of first-degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident and first-degree criminal mischief.

Police reports said Dr. William Jay Pitman of Paducah was hit from behind by a red sports while riding a bicycle down a single lane road in the park that evening.  The driver left the scene without stopping.  Dr. Pitman sustained serious injuries.

McCracken County Employees Under Investigation for Assault

Paducah Police and the McCracken County Fiscal Court are investigating a possible assault involving two county employees.

Early Saturday morning, tow truck driver Anthony Hess and Emergency Management Director Paul Carter got into a verbal argument over personal property while responding to a car accident on Internstate-24.

Paducah Law Enforcement Warns of New York-Based Phone Scam

Paducah Police Department officials are alerting residents of a phone scam warning of federal charges for overseas medical purchases.

A Paducah woman received a phone call with a Manhattan area code this week claiming the U.S Drug Enforcement Agency may charge her for trafficking because of illegal drug purchases from foreign countries.

Use of Heroin Up in Paducah

  Paducah authorities have seen a rise in heroin use  in the city over the past year. Yesterday Paducah Police arrested 20 year old Jason A. Morris on suspicion of selling heroin. During a four month investigation into Morris' activities, Undercover officers purchased a total of 9 grams of heroin. The street value of the seized heroin totals more than $5,000.
