The Paducah City Commission may authorize the city’s police department to participate in a roadside drug testing pilot program.

A $25,000 grant from the Kentucky Office of Safety will fund the program. Police will use a saliva swab test on voluntary participants after they’ve been arrested for driving under the influence.

Anti-texting and driving efforts orchestrated by the Paducah Police Department have earned a public safety award.

Paducah Police Department officials have released video of a traffic stop that spurred social media criticism and accusations of excessive force towards the department.

On Friday, the department announced the internal investigation into the stop of Kliff and Wendy Kester of Paducah was complete, determining no further action is warranted.

Police Chief Brandon Barnhill says he and Fire Chief Steve Kyle have been researching the idea of a joint-department facility for about five years and are now looking into how it could work for Paducah.  Barnhill says both departments are currently working out of cramped, out-dated quarters.
