Paducah Main Street

Next Thursday, June 18, Paducah Main Street hosts a new community event to introduce the artists that make up this UNESCO designated arts city. On Sounds Good, Tracy Ross speaks with Melinda Winchester about "Meet the Artists," who reminds us that "people come to Paducah from all over the world to see our art, meet our artists and see we what we have here." She talks about how Paducah got the designation and gives a preview of the artists you'll see at this free event at the restored historic Coca Cola plant.

Paducah Main Street

Paducah Main Street has regained its national accreditation following a downgrade last year.

"Fall in love with Paducah" this Valentine's Day. The Main Street program has coordinated with commercial shops and non-profit organizations to make a romantic package of events available to couples and families on Saturday, February 14. On Sounds Good, Kate Lochte speaks with Paducah Downtown Development Specialist Melinda Winchester about the citywide effort to celebrate the day with a variety of activities.

Downtown Paducah transforms into a magical atmosphere in "Dickens of a Christmas" on November 29, as part of Small Business Saturday. Paducah Main Street Director Melinda Winchester joins Kate Lochte on Sounds Good with a preview of the day, featuring carriage rides, dancers, s'mores by the fire and more.

Paducah Main Street has lost national accreditation, but has been classified as an affiliate of Kentucky’s statewide Main Street program.

The Paducah City Commission plans to eliminate the Main Street Department and the Paducah Renaissance Alliance Advisory Board while establishing a new Main Street Board of Directors.

Paducah Planning Director Steve Ervin says the new board will assist with Main Street accreditation along with promoting Main Street, which will focus on design, organization, promotion and economic restructuring for the area.
