New Soup Kitchen in Murray Meets Community Needs

Murray’s new soup kitchen, Soup for the Soul, celebrated its grand opening last night. The crew of volunteers served 29 plates of sandwiches, salad and fresh fruit.

Non-Profit Receives $182,000 to Expand & Renovate Murray Facility

A Murray-based non-profit organization is receiving state support to expand their facility and employ more individuals. 

Governor Steve Beshear announced today a $182,000 Community Development Block Grant for construction of a new 1,000 sq ft WATCH Inc. work facility and the renovation of the existing building in Murray.

Disabled Recreation Non-Profit Expanding Services


A non-profit organization that provides hunting and fishing services for about 150 disabled people in western Kentucky is attempting to double the amount of people it helps. 

The co-founder of handiCAPABLE Guide Services, Noel Dillard, started the business in 1993 when, inspired by a student with muscular dystrophy, Dillard vowed to help the young man become a fishing guide. Dillard continues to help people in his honor.

State Grant Helps Non-Profits Thrive

  Twenty-One Western Kentucky Arts and Cultural organizations are recipients of more than $344,000  in state grants from the Kentucky Arts Council. The council awarded nearly two million dollars statewide through the annual Kentucky Arts Partnership grant program.

Community Initiatives at the Murray-Calloway County United Way

Kate Lochte speaks with Aaron Dail, Executive Director of the Murray-Calloway County United Way, on Sounds Good. They talk about the transformation of the United Way involving community conversations and community change, and efforts being made on a local level.
