Murray, KY – Murray State's men's basketball team jumped to number 12 in the Associated Press rankings after their Saturday win over Tennessee Tech. The 18-0 Racers set a new school record for best win streak, as well as a home game attendance record of 8,691. Murray plays their next game this Wednesday at Morehead State University.

Tommy Clement Sentenced to 7 Years for School Theft

Paducah, KY – A McCracken county judge has sentenced a man convicted of stealing more than $100,000 in bus parts from McCracken county schools to seven years in prison. Judge Tim Kaltenbach sentenced former school bus garage supervisor Tommy Clement on Friday, who must also repay about $51,000 to the school district. The Paducah Sun reports Clement is eligible for parole after 16 months because all of the charges are non-violent.

Weekend OVC Basketball Scores

Murray, KY – In men's OVC basketball over the weekend, the #14 Murray State Racers kept up their undefeated streak with an 82 to 74 win over Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay won out over Jacksonville State 60 to 57, Southeast Missouri beat Eastern Illinois 80 to 73, Tennessee State defeated SIU Edwardsville 52 to 49, and Morehead State beat Eastern Kentucky 57 to 54. And in women's basketball, Murray State defeated Tennessee Tech 76 to 72.

Partisanship Rises in University of Pikeville Debate

Frankfort, KY – Last week's redistricting battles may increase the partisanship in the Kentucky General Assembly. That's what the Republican House Leader Jeff Hoover told his peers on the House floor after that chamber passed new district lines unfavorable to Republicans.

Issues such as the budget and making the University of Pikeville a public institution are still on the table for lawmakers, but Hoover says when a House Democrat asked him about the UPIKE issue, he wanted to laugh it off.
