Congressional District Delay

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky s congressional delegation will have to wait a little longer to find out who exactly they ll represent this year.

Legislative leaders are trying to work out a compromise on new congressional redistricting maps, having already passed maps of their own districts and their own versions of the congressional map. The congressional map is currently in a conference committee, but the chambers adjourned today with no compromise in hand. The committee will meet again on Monday.

Kentucky and Florida Attorneys General Fighting Prescription Drug Abuse

Frankfort, Ky – There is still a lot of work to do, but the Florida Attorney General says the "pill pipeline" between her state and Kentucky has been significantly reduced thanks to tougher regulations and the launch of a prescription monitoring program. Richie Farmer Reportedly Returns Equipment

1/19/12 – Former Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer has reportedly returned some of the department's missing equipment.

It was previously reported that nearly $500,000 worth of state property was either missing or unaccounted for. This was partly blamed on poor record keeping by the department, but certain records showed Farmer still had several pieces of equipment, including laptop computers and GPS units.

Legislature Finalizes New Districts, Still Wrestling With Congressional Map

Frankfort, KY – New legislative and judicial districts are just a signature away from becoming law.

The General Assembly has given final approval to House Bill 1, sending the new maps to the governor s desk.

The battle over redistricting has been brutal. It ended with members of the minority parties in each chamber drawn into unfavorable districts. The man in charge of redistricting in the House, Representative Mike Cherry, says everyone is a little upset in the aftermath.

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky has once again received a bad grade for lung health from the American Lung Association.

We continue to underfund cessation solutions. We continue to underfund prevention and control strategies. And we continue to keep cigarette taxes low.
