An enhanced employee benefit package extending services to Murray State University employees and their household members begins January 1st. At no additional cost, staff will now have access to 24 hour psychological services associated with Louisville based employee assistance provider Wayne Corporation. MSU Director of Human Resources Joyce Gordon says the off-campus options provide confidentiality.

Murray State University's Cinema International kicks off this semester's lineup of films with Snowpiercer, an a science fiction film putting an alternative spin on the term "post-apocalyptic." The 2013 South Korean film depicts class warfare on a train of the sole survivors of the global ice age created by a failed attempt to stop global warming. On Sounds Good today, MSU Department of English and Philosophy faculty member Andrew Black previews the upcoming season of Cinema International, with a closer look at this week's film, Snowpiercer.

A mold outbreak in Murray State University’s Biology Building is leading to a three week remediation that will bite into the beginning of the fall semester. Some faculty, staff, and students may have to temporarily relocate while areas are being cleaned.

Following a national search, Murray State University has named its new Vice President of Marketing and Outreach. Dr. Adrienne King will begin her duties on September 1, pending approval of the board of regents.

 Some Murray State University men’s and women’s basketball players will receive a $3,400 stipend this school year to use as they wish.

The NCAA's power conferences passed legislation earlier this year allowing Division I schools to give their student athletes stipends to meet the full cost of attendance, which includes anything the student needs beyond tuition, housing and textbooks.
