A Fond Farewell to Soprano, MSU Music Professor Dr. Sonya Baker

Soprano Sonya Baker has presented programs in many of our region's performing arts halls and has held the position of  Assistant Dean of the College of Humanities & Fine Arts and Professor of Music at Murray State, but today she visits with us as she's on her way to a new post as Associate Dean for the College of Visual and Performing Arts at James Madison University. MSU Symphony Orchestra & Symphonic Band Perform Final Concert Tonight

The Murray State University Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Band present their final concert of the Spring semester tonight (April 24) in Lovett Auditorium. The program includes works by Wagner, Dvorak, Vaughan Williams, Clifton Williams, Fred J. Allen, and Todd Stalter. MSU Band Director John Fannin visits Sounds Good with a preview of the performance.

Murray State Concert Choir Features Works of E.E. Cummings Sunday

E.E. Cummings

Dr. Amy Aucoin directs the Concert Choir of Murray State which is giving a concert Sunday, March 2 at 3:30 PM in Lovett Auditorium featuring the works of poet E.E. Cummings. Dr. Aucoin is also calling for singers for the spring semester of Community Chorus. She speaks with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good about the upcoming performance and how one can become involved in the Community Chorus.

World Premiere of Ciach's Third Sonata Thursday

Murray State Music Department assistant professor, pianist, composer Brian Ciach premieres his Third Sonata Thursday night at 7:30 in Farrell Recital Hall. Farrell Recital Hall is on the third floor of Price Doyle Fine Arts. The performance is open to all. He performs the music and speaks about it during the 50 minute piece. Kate Lochte learns more about the Sonata with the composer next, including a sneak preview of the Sonata's first movement. See more of Brian's work at his website.
