Attend An Eight-Week Citizen's Police Academy in Murray

Police officers understand that often their interaction with the public is during high-stress times, so the Murray Police Department and other forces reach out to explain more about what they are trained to do in an eight-week Citizens' Police Academy with night classes through March and April. On Sounds Good, Sergeant David Howe and Kate Lochte do an overview of the course, which includes the basics of police work, a tour of the 911 call-center, understanding drug investigations, demystifying criminology, a tour of the jail and more.

Murray Police Offers Citizens Academy, Starts Monday

The Murray Police Department begins their eight-week Citizens Police Academy this Monday, giving members of the community insight into the realities behind everyday police work. Sergeant Dave Howe says often people get a perspective of the police from national media, television and movies, and that a lot of times it's not entirely accurate - especially in rural areas. He speaks with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good about the topics covered: from crime scene investigation to the court room procedure, to how to protect yourself in your home.

National Night Out: A Public Safety Block Party in Murray

Police Investigating Shooting Death Near Murray State Campus

Murray City Police have confirmed they are investigating the shooting death of 22 year old Lindsey Darnall of Cadiz. Darnall was pronounced dead at Murray Calloway County Hospital. Murray Police Sgt. Scott Svebakken says Darnall was found behind 1300 Payne Street in Murray.  Svebakken says police are still investigating the death, but they are not looking actively looking for a shooter. Updates will be provided when received.

Murray School Bus Crash

Murray police say no was hurt this morning in a crash involving a Murray city school bus and another vehicle. The accident occurred just after seven o’clock at the intersection of 16th Street and Lowes Drive. Authorities say crews are working to clear the intersection.
