MSU's Associate Director for Health Services Judy Lyle initiated bringing the online program AlcoholEDU to Murray State students as well as students at Murray And Calloway County High in an effort to combat alcohol abuse.
The confidential, online program involves surveys and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators has noted its effectively moderating high-risk drinking. She speaks with Kate about the program on Sounds Good.
It’s prom season in Kentucky, and that means after-prom parties. At least one high school is using this annual event to address teenage drinking and driving. In 2011, eight teenagers died in drunken driving accidents and there were a total of 375 crashes. Whitney Jones has more on how one police department hopes to prevent underage drinking and driving.
NPR's Morning Edition host David Greene is in Murray to help raise money for the Murray High School Speech Team, with a presentation tonight at Wrather West Kentucky Museum. See "An Evening with David Greene" at 7 p.m., reception starts at 5:30 p.m. Donations for the MHS Speech Team will be accepted at the door.
