Owensboro Police Turn Over Internal Investigation Records

Nov 5, 2012

Owensboro may have turned over records requested by the town's newspaper, but officials say they still plan to appeal the case. Mayor Ron Payne tells the Messenger-Inquirer that local officials believe police departments shouldn't have to release documents that they consider internal.

Owensboro officials will appeal its case involving an open records dispute with The Messenger-Inquirer. City commissioners voted yesterday to appeal a circuit judge’s decision that the city must hand over two internal investigations opened last year against former police spokeswoman Marian Cosgrove.
