Steve Beshear's efforts to resolve issues related to the Medicaid managed care system, but the overwhelming majority of hospitals are still reporting significant dollar amounts owed to them by Kentucky’s MCOs in unpaid claims.

Beshear: Managed Care Initiative Running Smoothly

Gov. Steve Beshear says the Medicaid managed care system is running smoothly, with payments being processed quickly and fewer complaints.

Beshear said Thursday that managed care, now in its second year statewide, is saving tax dollars while also helping to improve the health of Medicaid recipients by emphasizing prevention and wellness.

Medicaid Prompt Pay Bill Approved in Kentucky General Assembly, Could Be Vetoed

A bill requiring prompt pay for health care providers participating in Kentucky's Medicaid managed-care system is heading to the governor's desk — but it isn't veto-proof.

The bill is  sponsored by House Speaker Greg Stumbo and would move disputes between providers and managed care organizations to the Department of Insurance to be settled.

Kentucky Spirit Sues to Officially Break Its Medicaid Contract

Struggling Medicaid operator Kentucky Spirit has followed through and is suing to end its contract with the state.

Kentucky Spirit announced last week it was leaving the commonwealth, because it could not operate without massive losses.  Now, it is suing in Frankfort courts to make it official.

Statewide Medicaid Operator Kentucky Spirit Plans to End Contract Early

Governor Steve Beshear says he’s disappointed that one statewide Medicaid operator has announced it is leaving the state.

Kentucky Spirit, part of Centene Corporation from Missouri, announced today that they would terminate their operations next July, before their contract is up.
