A former Reidland Middle School teacher has been arrested after police received a complaint describing an alleged inappropriate student/teacher relationship. The McCracken County Sheriff Department says Chelsea Rose, 24, turned herself in Friday.

The Kentucky State Police presented a plan for E911 services to the Paducah City Commission and the McCracken County Fiscal Court last night.  Major John Bradley says the consolidated dispatch service is the largest proposed in the state and would cost $1.2 million in startup costs.

Paducah Fire Chief Steve Kyle told the city commission Tuesday night there are still too many unknowns to make a recommendation on whether to contract with Kentucky State Police for 911 operations or continue self-operations. Kyle says a major concern for the Emergency Communication System is the ability of the Mayfield KSP’s proposed 10 dispatchers to handle Paducah-McCracken County’s entire call volume with a decrease in certain services and connections.

A proposed bill could give prosecutors across Kentucky more teeth in convicting repeat DUI and domestic assault offenders.

The cheers of school children erupted as veterans marched up Broadway during the annual Veterans Day parade in Paducah today. The rain did not dampen the onlookers’ spirits.

Hardy Gentry was awarded the Distinguished Veteran Award this year for his service not only in the military but also in the community. He has been the American Legion post commander numerous times.

The technology based support provider TeleTech will receive $100,000 from the McCracken County Fiscal Court to assist in employee training. Judge Executive Van Newberry says the court will provide support to TeleTech after creating more jobs than originally expected.

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is continuing to make progress on the demolition of the Old Ledbetter Bridge. The contractor has removed all the concrete decking from the 3 truss spans and has started removing decking on the eastern approach spans at the Livingston County end of the 85 year old structure.

The contractor submitted a demolition plan to the US Coast Guard for approval about a month ago.  The Coast Guard shared the plan with a river industry trade group and federal agencies for their input.   This week the US
