A UT Martin professor has been appointed to review Tennessee’s math standards. Governor Bill Haslam announced that Stephanie Kolitsch will serve on the Mathematics Standards Review and Development Committee.

Haslam has asked The State Board of Education to appoint the Mathematics Standards Committee along with an English Language Arts Standards Review and Development Committee, each with three advisory teams. Kolitsh will lead the Mathematics Advisory Team for grades 9-12.

The government released the latest national test scores on Wednesday, and the news isn't good: 12th-graders are headed toward graduation, but many don't have the skills they need to succeed in college or work.

The test is the National Assessment of Educational Progress, often referred to as "the nation's report card."

MSU Upward Bound Program Gets 525K

The U. S. Department of Education has renewed funding for Murray State University’s Upward Bound Math and Science program with $525,000 in grants. Upward Bound strengthens students’ math and science skills and helps them pursue careers in those fields.
